Jack Barnes: whats new

sugar ants - January 28, 2008

Well its that time of year again and my three/ two and a half has been invaded yet again. and despite all of my training and my core beliefs of one shot one kill, I have adopted the old Army directive: Kill everything that moves.

Sgt Jack Barnes and Tobacco Road - September 24, 2007

Its truly amazing where inspiration comes from. I was hanging out at Tobacco Road today, and something really odd struck me. I was standing at the bar watching the Sunday Football recap on ESPN. When I notice the sign next to the flat panel TV. 'Twas an oblong disc with a red and black background that simply said "JACK & COKE". And I thought to myself somethings just go together. Then I thought that would be a great ad. Me and a bottle of Coke with the caption "Somethings just go together." You know black and white with maybe the coke label in color. My next thought was I've gotto get Judge on the phone to see what it would take to put this thing together. Sweet.
Oh yeah! This Sgt Jack Barnes video game thing. You know, it's really quite funny. I am Sgt Barnes. Sgt Jack Barnes, Really. If you didn't know, I am and will always be a Marine. Most of everything I am is the Corps. I left the Marine Corps as an E5(Sgt) and lost two paygrades when I transferred to the Coast Guard. I am not a Coastie and I am not a Sailor. i am a Marine in a blue uniform.
Semper Fi Brothers and Sisters, catch you on the flip

will the real jack barnes please stand up - September 13, 2007

Will the real Jack Barnes please stand up
If you hadn't guessed, I'm not some crazed homophobic Senator or the National Secretary of the Communist Party. I don't have a problem with same sex couples and I didn't sell a New York loft for 1.8 million dollars. So if you Google Jack Barnes and you get one of these guys I'm truly sorry.

For those of you that do not know, I was born Spencer James Barnes, I took the name Jack in honor of my father who died of Cancer in 1999. Oh and I use lower case letters because I think it looks cool.

There you have it. I don't hate anyone and I think Government plays too big of a role in our live already and I love all of you.

Until next time

Peace

Writer's block - September 11, 2007

I generally don't force any of the tunes that I write. I listen for the melody in whatever chords I am playing and the words usually flow from there. But I heard something kind of funny the other day and wanted to work it into a song, and I'm having a little trouble. The line goes like this: I missed you, but my aim is gettin' better. Everything so far sounds like a Brad Paisley tune. Not that that's a bad thing. Its just not me. So, if you have any suggestions feel free to go to the feedback page and let me know what you think. good or bad. I welcome the input.
Peace

Ok so I'm a dork - September 7, 2007

I am so bummed right now. I sent disc 5 of HEROES season one back to Netflix today and disc 6 won't be here until tomorrow. I know, I know I can find something else to do tonight, I mean it is Friday. But there is more to it than that. I started watching the series when it aired and really got into it. but then I missed a week, then another week. When I finally caught it again I was completely lost. That is when I decided to wait for it to come out on DVD. I've been patient and that crap season summary they released didn't help at all. So when the DVD came out last week I eased myself into it watching an episode here and an episode there until disc 3. I began devouring a disc a night this week and now I have to wait til tomorrow for disc 6 and Tuesday for disc 7. I know its sorta lame but I feel the same way about Entourage, the Avatar, Rescue Me and Weeds. Go figure.

Labor Day - September 3, 2007

I hope your labor day was stellar. I braved south Florida traffic, paid a king's ransom for parking and swallowed a gallon of salt water. But, no sunburn, no foul. One thing though, whoever the guy is that makes Brasilian cut bikinis in a size 15 is on my list. I mean really, is this guy sitting somewhere snickering? Well I don't think it's funny

ethanol - September 1, 2007

Just finished up an appearance w/ Eric Brandon in Pompano Beach, and we got to talking 'bout gas and how the prices are never going to be normal again ($1.69 per gallon). We were talkin bout how car companies should make more Hybrid cars available and how ethanol is beginning to pick up in popularity. I mean really its not like we're gonna run outta corn, that stuff grows like weeds. the only problem is with half the people drinkin the stuff how much is gonna be left for cars. "some for me, some for the car". really! at just under $2.00 a gallon its a hell of a lot cheaper than a bottle of rum.
